Plotting from UG NX on Windows 7

Plotting from UG NX on Windows 7

Plotting from UG NX on Windows 7

(OP)
Am I the only goober who can't get UG NX to plot on Windows 7?  I have an HP430.  I can plot to it with Adobe and E-Drawings, but not NX.  It goes thru all the motions, but the job never leaves the "queued jobs".  Here is the log file.

I don't know enough to tell if this is correct or not.

Thanks

RE: Plotting from UG NX on Windows 7

I am having the same problem.  We recently updated all of our workstations and have not been able to plot from any of them yet.  We are using an HP Designjet T1100.  I used the same environmental variable that was used to set up NX4, along with the same process.  It should also be noted that we have NX4 and NX6 installed at the same time.  I will be very interested to know how to resolve this.

Please contact GTAC and have them look at your issues.

RE: Plotting from UG NX on Windows 7

My guess is that you're probably using 64bit Windows 7?

On 64bit systems (Vista & Win 7), the two variables UGII_SDI_BPS_JOBS_DIR & UGII_SDI_OVERRIDE_HOME need to be set.
When they are unspecified they are created in the users profile, but Win 7 & Vista works their permissions differently from WinXP.

Creating those two variables & then pointing them to look at a folder, (c:\temp is the example I would follow) fixes the problem.

Simplest way to create the variables is:

Windows Control Panel -> System -> Advanced (TAB) -> Environment Variables (button)

Add a system variable and then enter the variable name & variable value

RE: Plotting from UG NX on Windows 7

Hmm.... it is strange. We have just upgraded our workstations to win 7 64bit. We have no problems ploting with ploter HP design jet 510, or with printer kyocera 1650.

Anthony hit it right on the head!  That did the trick.  Another reason why I LOVE this site.

Thanks everybody.

RE: Plotting from UG NX on Windows 7

Agreed.  Our plotter issues have been resolved.

Thanks to all for replying.  Special thanks to Anthony for the resolving the issue.

RE: Plotting from UG NX on Windows 7

It gets asked a lot so I've made a FAQ for it.

RE: Plotting from UG NX on Windows 7

I had the same problem, and entering the variables at least allowed the connection to our HP DesignJet 510. Now, however, when I try to plot, the plotter starts the drawing correctly, but after about an inch of the plot, it stops. The driver is the generic one in nxplotadmin. I'm using window 7 64 bit, with NX 7.0.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
