Trying to find a source for perforated fiberglass.

Trying to find a source for perforated fiberglass.

Trying to find a source for perforated fiberglass.

(OP)
Howdy all,

I am totally striking out on locating a source for perforated fiberglass.  We often bond perforated fiberglass sheets and send them out to a machine shop to be perforated to a sepcific pattern, but this is such a fine mesh I don't think they can do it.  For inlet cowl acoustic panels there is a septum bonded between two layers of nomex core.  The septum is .012" thick made from fiberglass in a thermoset resin matrix and has a square perforated pattern with holes .020" apart and .008" diameter.  Can anyone recommend a company that could produce this, or a company that could take a fiberglass panel and perforate it to these specs?  What manufacturing process could be used to create this?  Laser perfoating?

Thanks for everyones help.

RE: Trying to find a source for perforated fiberglass.

I'm pretty sure a laser service can make .008" diameter holes on .020" centers, in thin metal, just barely.  I don't know if they can cut fiberglass in that geometry or not.

My contacts may be out of date, but try emailing:
laser at lasertron.com
focused_metals at mindspring.com

Thanks Mike,

I sent emails off to both with my needs, but I got the second one back.  It looks like that contact is out of date.  I appreciate the help.

lasertron couldn't help me either.  I'm guessing this is going to be returned as is.  Thanks for your help Mike,
