Modeler Tolerance errors

Modeler Tolerance errors

Modeler Tolerance errors

(OP)
I have been using I-DEAS for many years and recently I started getting error messages that I had not had before:

1- When checking in a part (that was not imported from another system but created in the model file) in the library I get a warning message: "this part was not created with the standard modeler tolerance, you could be checking in a part that does not have a standard modeler tolerance".

2- When trying to modify a section after calling the wire frame from the part history: "the part was not created with the standard modeler tolerance so it cannot be modifed" and it does not let me modify the part anylonger!

Has anybody had these messages and found a solution and/or know where they come from?

Thank you

RE: Modeler Tolerance errors

Go to Modify Special techs Tolerance in screen menu.  In here you can modify the default tolerance on a wireframe and or the model.  I am not 100% sure on how all of this works on a model.  But it could be a good place to start looking.

Thanks but I have a version that does not seem to have that command "Modify special techs". I have version 10NX.

RE: Modeler Tolerance errors

I think release 10 had this option.  Not for sure
Try typing this the following in your I-Deas prompt

/mo spe t mo

/mo spe t df

Thanks a lot, this works. I did not know these commands. I think that the solution is to use the first command to change the tolerance of the offending part to whatever tolerance the model file has, which can be checked with the second command.

RE: Modeler Tolerance errors

Good.  To get to these commands hit CTRL M which brings up your side screen menu.  I am happy it worked for you.

RE: Modeler Tolerance errors

Hi,

Only an appoint the Control + M menus are different if you are in Master Modeler, Master Assembly, Product Modeling. So check in wich task are you working when you acces Control + M menus.
