MCS offcentered in IS&V

MCS offcentered in IS&V

(OP)
Hi !

Does anybody know how I can simulate an operation with a vnc.tcl controller for a 5 axis post, with MCS offcentered from C-axis rotation as shown.

Even our Nx reseller told us it was impossible, I've read in the documentation:

For 4- and 5-axis machines, the Z-axis of the MCS must be parallel to the Z-axis of the machine defined using the Machine Tool Builder. Additionally, if either rotary component is in the table, the X and Y-axes must also be parallel to the physical X and Y machine axes.

Note:

The MCS can be positioned anywhere in space for any mill. The MCS axes should be aligned with the machine axes.

Thanks.

Tom

RE: MCS offcentered in IS&V

Hi Tom,

The problem description is a bit brief. I might have written postprocessors that can do what you are after. Without some kind of sample cam program it is difficult to prove winky smile.

What controller are you looking into and what version nx?
