continuously adjustable fail-safe brake
continuously adjustable fail-safe brake
(OP)
I'm looking at fail-safe emergency brakes for a winch application, specifically a brake that could have the braking torque continuously adjusted during operation of the winch, and then when power is lost, it applies the braking torque that was set. From my research so far, it seems that fail-safe brakes are generally spring-applied, but continuous adjustment of the braking torque seems easier with a pneumatically applied brake, since the torque is proportional to the pressure applied. Do continuously adjustable spring-set brakes exist, or does anyone have a recommendation for this application? I can use multiple calipers or brakes, but the total braking force needs to be around 3000 lb.
