Scripting for Solidworks

Scripting for Solidworks

Scripting for Solidworks

(OP)
Hello,

I am looking into how I can create scripts that would generate a text file which can then be read in by Solidworks to create the 3d model.

I need to be able to create multiple iterations of a model (a solenoid winding) with different parameters (such as number of turns, wire thickness, and number of layers). I have attached a file that shows an example of the type of part(which I now made by hand)for which I want to automate the process.

I was planning on writing a script in pearl and then creating a batch file that would run the script and then Solidworks in non interactive mode.

Does anyone know if this could be done, or if there is a better way of doing this not using an outside script?

Also, can this be done in any other CAD program?

Cheers!

Look at DriveWorksXpress, which is in every seat of SolidWorks. You could also use design tables.

thanks for the reply! It looks really promising. can you tell me what the difference is between driveworks solo and driveworks express?

Cheers

RE: Scripting for Solidworks

One is free with SolidWorks, the other is extra money. Beyond that, I'm not sure. However, if you contact DriveWorks, they'll be able to give you a much better answer.
