anyone has design with stainless steel rod?

I need 1/2" or 5/8" dia rod.

what's the Yeilding strength and tensile strength for stainless?

please tell me value or market site.

Thanks

RE: stainless steel rod

Some of the common stainless steel alloy for rods are 15-5, 17-4, 440C, NITRONIC 50, NITRONIC 60, 303, 304L, 316L, 321, 347, 410, 416.

Fy is dependent on the alloy. Two of the common alloys, 304 and 316 yield strength is ~35,000 psi.

For small quanities try reviewing prices at:

RE: stainless steel rod

For plain stainless rod the typical specification is ASTM A276-304/316 and this can be specified in various conditions for the required mechanical properties. Cond A - Fult = 70 ksi, Fy = 30 ksi.

If you need higher strength you can use 17-4 in a heat treated condition based on ASTM A564 Type 630.

If you are attempting to follow a bolt specification use ASTM F593 and F594 - typical threading manufactures and Fastenal will provide SS bolts/washers/nuts to this specification.
