What happened to reposition in NX 7.5?
What happened to reposition in NX 7.5?
(OP)
When moving solid bodies and/or components, reposition was an invaluable tool, especially being able to move objects from one origin defined by xyz coordinates to another. What happened to this function? Why would it ever be eliminated? It is crucial! I have worked with software engineers/programmers before, and I understand that they feel the need to change/fix things that don't need to be, case in point....transfer/move being split up, but this one baffles me.

It is available on Move Object and move component.

RE: What happened to reposition in NX 7.5?
This will allow you to move components like Reposition did in earlier versions.
RE: What happened to reposition in NX 7.5?
- Hm, did the guys developing either function actually run anything else in the system ? Guess not.
RE: What happened to reposition in NX 7.5?
It would be a regression if "transform" is canned, without "move" having this capability...

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
RE: What happened to reposition in NX 7.5?
1) when I try to move the body, I get "Cannot apply non-uniform scale to bodies. Choose OK to continue ignoring bodies"......which after choosing "OK" does diddly.....
-and-
2) when I try to copy the body, I get "Transformation type is unsuitable for highlighted object"
Is this a regression? Why the two different error answers?

RE: What happened to reposition in NX 7.5?
I used to use transformation, 3-point fit all the time in NX2-3......did I miss the regression? Can you show me any documentation that definitely says that transformation, 3-point fit does not work with bodies??

It shows an example of 4-point fit on a solid body, albeit scale and no re-orientation.

Are you saying I can't "point-fit" repososition a solid body?
That is a regression. The help file is my witness.

However, I must apologize and retract part of what I stated previously. The 'Transform' 3-Point Fit should still work for a body (I just verified it using NX 7.5) however, it was the 4-point fit which was not designed to work on topological objects (i.e. Bodies).
If you wish to perform a non-uniform scale of a body you should use...
Insert -> Offset/Scale -> Scale Body...
...and select the 'General' Type of scale.
Sorry if I contributed to the confusion surrounding what is still available using Transform versus Move Object.

RE: What happened to reposition in NX 7.5?
That makes no sense. This operation has undergone a sneaky regression, I'm sure of it now.
1) I remember using 3- and 4- point fits on bodies, at least back to NX2/3. Worked every time.
2) The help page that I referenced above CLEARLY SHOWS A BODY undergoing a 4-point fit, transformed and scaled. Is the help file incorrect, too??
I will attempt to "move > csys to csys". I hope I am pleasantly surprised that it works.
