Beam to Tubular Leg Connection (Ring Stiffener)

Beam to Tubular Leg Connection (Ring Stiffener)

(OP)
Hi,

I need to check a ring stiffener on an existing tubular leg. There are 4 I beams framing into the leg. How is the ring analysed?

I know there are basic formulas in Roarks, is it normal practice to use these to get the stress?

Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Beam to Tubular Leg Connection (Ring Stiffener)

I haven't done it in a long time, but that's how I always did it.  Now there are probably spread sheets which will speed the process.

Also worth having a look at API RP 2A and the CIDECT design guides.
