Unable to Perform Operations on Polygon Bodies

Unable to Perform Operations on Polygon Bodies

Unable to Perform Operations on Polygon Bodies

(OP)
Hi everyone.

I'm a new Nx Nastran user; past experience is with HyperWorks & Abaqus. I'm trying to run a simulation in Nx, but I can't seem to mesh the parts in the assembly at all (I'm already in .fem mode).

I can click on the tetmesh icon and get the create 3D tetra window to pop-up, but I'm prompted to select the bodies I wish to mesh, and nothing happens when I click on them.

I tried getting out of Advanced Simulation & into Modelling application, & tried to perform other ops on the bodies - combine, trim etc... but I still can't select the bodies.

Do I have to create the solids/volumes enclosed by the iges geometries that I imported? Because I can see the polygon bodies in the model tree (LHS). So I'm assuming the workable solids are already there.

Thanks in advance,
jo

RE: Unable to Perform Operations on Polygon Bodies

Set your selection filter to solid body and see if it will let you select the body in question. In my experience IGES files come in as sheet bodies that then need to be sewn together to make a solid body. I believe there is even an option in the IGES import to 'automatically sew surfaces' or some similar wording.

Thanks for your response!

I tried that option, and it doesn't work...

Have also tried working with STEP instead of IGES. No improvement.

thanks,
jo
