Edit Polygon inside sketch

Edit Polygon inside sketch

Edit Polygon inside sketch

(OP)
In NX 7.5.3.3,
I was trying to use new Polygon feature of NX 7.5 inside sketch.
The Dialog that is displayed while creating the polygon will not appear if I want to edit the polygon (suppose I want to edit the number of sides from 6 to 7). But if I click "Show/Remove constraints" icon, a "Polygon" constraint is listed. I don't know how to make use of this Polygon constraint. or is it just an information item?

RE: Edit Polygon inside sketch

Yes, once the Polygon is created there is a 'polygon' CONSTRAINT assigned to it which does allow you to edit the origin, size and relative angle of the polygon, but it does not include the ability to edit the number of sides.  That would require that the group of curves which makes up the Polygon be considered a 'feature' and features can't exist inside of a Sketch, which is a feature itself.

If what you goal is is to have an N-Sided polygon which you can parametrically edit the number of sides, that's something that can be done using something like Instance Geometry (see attached example where you can control the size and number of sides using normal Expressions).

Thanks for the model.

Well, the concern was, there should have been an "Edit" dialog similar to "Create" dialog.

If you are talking about Group of Curves, then Pattern Curve has the ability of editing. And since pattern curve is also a group of curves, that resides inside a sketch, and is also editable, why a similar option does not exist for Polygon, which is comparatively simple.

Way back when Text (Insert -> Curve -> Text ) command was introduced in NX3, the text was not editable, it would become spline segments, but in later versions, it was made editable.
Such enhancement is required for Polygon also.

RE: Edit Polygon inside sketch

Then please contact GTAC and have them open an ER (Enhancement Request) to this effect since that is the official process for collecting and reviewing potential projects for future development cycles.
