problem modelling electrodes

(OP)
Hi there
Recently I've been modeling a piezoelectric layer attached to a base beam by ansys.I want to study the effects of frequency on the electromechanical behavior of beam and piezoelectric layer. Now I have some problems doing the analysis:
-I defined contact between the base beam and piezoelectric layer. As you know contact makes the analysis nonlinear and for harmonic analysis nonlinear behaviors are neglected. The software will solve the problem without nonlinearity and it may lead to inaccuracy. The harmonic analysis is the only analys type available for studding the effect of frequency change on the behavior of structures.
-Piezoelectric analysis needs an electrical circuit. For defining the circuit the ansys help suggests using CIRCU94 element .But first I need to define electrodes and I don’t know how to do that .By using electrodes I can estimate the total voltage and electrical current produced by the piezoelectric layer.
I will be pleased to know about your suggestions.
Thank you

RE: problem modelling electrodes

If you have nonlinear behavior, then modal and harmonic solutions are eliminated.  You can do a direct transient solution to find the response of interest.  Whether the "frequency change" you are studying is an input load or a function of geometry, you can still see how your response varies as you change the frequency (with separate runs for each frequency).

RE: problem modelling electrodes

Hi

you must make electrodes in layer format simillar to piezo layer, with material property description for these(top and bottom of Pizo layer)or designing them unexplicit that means apply voltage to top and bottom of pizo layer.
can I ask about method of acceleration apply and method of simple circuit building for a piezo layer?
