COMPOSITE BLIND FLANGES

COMPOSITE BLIND FLANGES

COMPOSITE BLIND FLANGES

(OP)
I ask your help in clarifying how to define (English language clarification) the process of welding a disc in CU-NI or other material to a blind flage in carbon steel.
When we are welding the fuse material to a different surface we are normally using the term "cladding" while when dealing with a welding of a disc to a blind flange (for ex.) we are not sure if we should speak of "overlay" or "lining".
Can you help ?
Do you know where (type of application) this second type of pieces are normally and mostly used ?

RE: COMPOSITE BLIND FLANGES

Cladding is the correct term to use,  They are used all over a chemicl plant where a base material blind flange would cost a lot of money. I would say that we have clad flanges on every 24" manway or cover where there is corrosive enviroment.
There are two primary method of attaching the cladding ttio a Flange.  If the service doesn't have pressure and temperature changes we weld thon the outside where we cab=n use any filler desired.  If there are pressure and temperature changes we will go with a thicker plate and plug weld it to the CS flange.
