Antivirus and SWX Files

Antivirus and SWX Files

In order to increase performance, I have heard that you should exclude SolidWorks files from your antivirus scanner.  I can see that the SWX files should be virus free, but what about the virus infected macros within the embeded Word or Excel documents.  How do those get scanned if I'm not scanned the SolidWorks files?

Thanks,

Scott

RE: Antivirus and SWX Files

In your anti-virus software configure it to ignore (do not scan) files with the .sldprt .sldasm .slddrw extensions.

Right.

Sorry for not being more specific.  I do currenlty ignore those files.  My question is, since I'm not scanning those files, are the embedded Word or Excel files that may contain a malicious macro safe?  How can I be assured that those files are completely virus free without degrading performance?
