Why are thread symbols selectable from the sheet?

Why are thread symbols selectable from the sheet?

Why are thread symbols selectable from the sheet?

(OP)
Example:
I want to hide all the drafting objects on the drawing sheet and make a rectangle selection.
And I see that the thread symbols in the member views are also selected.
Now I use MB3 hide object, the result is: that now the drafting objects are blanked, but instead of the thread symbols,
the entire solids are blanked in the model area.
Also to change the object display is possible in this way!

That's really funny, changing model objects is now possible in drafting. *lol*
This is a function I want to have for the new "Move Object" command.

This is happened in NX6, NX7 and NX7.5

Is this a bug or a new function?

Thanks for your help!

RE: Why are thread symbols selectable from the sheet?

Please note that we are on a long term program where while working in Drafting, irrespective of whether a drawin is displayed or not, you will be limited to performing Drafting ONLY functions.  This also include not being able to interact with modeling objects except to the extent that you are performing a drafting type function.  This will mean that functions like Move Object will only support Drafting objects and NOT those created in Modeling.

As for the behavior with the blank, I will look into that as it seems to be a bug of some sort (however, I think I know what the 'problem' is and I suspect that this is the behavior that we are going to have to live with).

About "Move Object": if working in Drafting and switch off the drawing and press "File-> Properties" you will see that the "Creation Mode" is Model.
That means you using the Drafting application but working in the model area and until now, it was possible to move or copy geometries and drafting-objects together with the old transform dialog.

I didn't see any logical reason why it's now locked for "Move Object". But if you are changing the status of the geometries to view dependent, it works fine.
For Example:
I have finished my work with only 2D geometries, dimensions and all the drafting things. Or I have exported a drawing sheet with 2D-Exchange. That means no solid bodies and no parameters.

With the old transform it was possible to mirror it, to get very fast the solution for the left hand design. Or to scale it, that you get the geometries in scale 1:1.

I believe NX is on the best way to be a pure 3D CAD and will lose its previous 2D functions.
But we also really need the old 2D functions for 50% of our daily work.
Thanks for your help!

RE: Why are thread symbols selectable from the sheet?

Actually we are investing quite heavily in '2D', but please don't confuse creating what appears to be a '2D' drawing from a '3D' model with making an actual '2D' drawing.  When I said we are investing heavily in '2D' I was referring to the SECOND description of a '2D' drawing.  Now don't get us wrong, are going to continue to invest in the ability to create '2D' drawings from purely '3D' models, but there is a need for pure '2D' as well.  Note that while some drafting tasks can be used equally well whether the 'model' being drafted is a 3D solid or 2D wireframe, there are many tasks which are only relevant for one environment and not the other, and while it may appear that we have been concentrating almost exclusively on the 3D model-based drafting in the past, we are now starting to make very specific enhancements in order to support more 2D wireframe approaches, but there still be times where it will not be practical to mix concepts the user will have to decide whether he can accomplish what he needs using 3D or 2D techniques and based on that he will end up using different functions and workflows.

This is nice to hear, because to bring the 3D and 2D functions together, I'm sure that's not possible without lost functionality.
