Actuator Application Guide and Specification

Actuator Application Guide and Specification

(OP)
I am trying to create an actuator application guide that focuses on large pipeline valves and ESD vavles.  I came across this thread (thread408-138958: Actuator type for shut off valve) also.  Is there a good source of information that currently exists to guide an engineer through the actuator selection process?  Type of actuator vs valve in place, actuator characteristic requirements, special application considerations, mounting, controls, ect.  Example public actuator specification?

RE: Actuator Application Guide and Specification

MSS SP-92 touches on this in an extremely broad way. It would be pretty hard to write a standard on what type of operator to use when. The opinions I imagine vary greatly and your plant design greatly affects what operators should be used.

MSS SP-91 has guidelines for manual operation

Both MSS and ISO do have mounting dimension standards for both multi-turn and quarter turn actuators.

RE: Actuator Application Guide and Specification

ISO 12490 is in FDIS stage now, and should be published within a few months.  This new standard covers this exact topic.
