TFVE Motors??

TFVE Motors??

(OP)
Hi all. I am working on a Brazilian project which employs IEC type motors, type TFVE. I tried to get the meaning of TFVE and it sounds to be a totally enclosed motor with external fan. However, my motor is 45kW running at 1200RPM. This motor is operating a vibrating screen.

I have doubts whether this is a motor with an external fan with a separate power source OR a motor with a fan coupled to its shaft.

if somebody has used this type of motor before, I would appreciate if I be guided with my doubts. Thank you.

RE: TFVE Motors??

It should be TEFV = Totally Enclosed Fan Ventilated same as TEFC.
The fan is mounted onto the motor shaft at the non drive end.

RE: TFVE Motors??

No, TVFE is a Brazilian term: "Totalmente Fechado com Ventilador Externo". I'm sorry my Portugese isn't good enough to translate it with any certainty, but it does seem to be better than your ability with Google. poke

RE: TFVE Motors??

Hi,
My translator (software) comes up with Totally Enclosed Fan External and/or Totally Enclosed Fan Outside. I did notice that the TVFE designation is associated with an IP 55 enclosure.

Thanks

RE: TFVE Motors??

I got that far with the translation - so is the cooling fan on-shaft like a standard TEFC design or a separate blower mounted on the NDE cowling?

I don't think we are being much help to the OP, are we??

RE: TFVE Motors??

Scotty,
The best that I can offer is that the motors I've seen in my couple of searches online (for a TVFE) is they appear to be shaft mounted fans as in a TEFC. If I have time I'll try to back-track and furnish some links.
Thanks

Thanks starkopete and all for the figures. I was thinking the same thing except that I have to get second opinion on this.

It is good to have helpful folks around.
