No tracking bar for "Basic Curves"

No tracking bar for "Basic Curves"

No tracking bar for "Basic Curves"

(OP)
I have a coworker that cannot get the "tracking bar" when using commands like "basic curves".

I cannot find any setting on where this might be.  I know you can "hide" this bar by using MB3, but I do not want to do this on my setup.  I wont be able to turn it back on if I do.

Look at the attached pic for the tracking bar on my setup.

Thanks,

Allen

Current version: NX 5.0.4.1

RE: No tracking bar for "Basic Curves"

From GTAC:

SYMPTOM/PROBLEM
---------------
In Modeling, the tracking bar is missing while in Basic Curves operation.

SOLUTION/WORKAROUND
-------------------
The tracking bar was either closed or has "slid" off the screen.  Try the
following:

1.  With the Basic Curve dialog open, select Preferences --> User Interface
--> Cancel.  If the tracking bar was closed, this will reopen it.  This is
fixed in NX6.

2.  Increase the monitor resolution to its highest setting.  This will shrink
the application and the tracking bar may become visible if it had slid off
into the netherworld.  You can then slid it back to its proper position.

3.  Preferences --> User Interface --> Layout tab --> Reset Window Position
icon.  Use this as a last resort since you will lose your toolbar layout.

4.  Finally, if all else fails, then close the current NX session.

5. Rename the current "user.mtx" file located at "C:\Documents and
   Settings\(log in name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Unigraphics
   Solutions".

6. Restart NX.

7. Open Basic Curves. The Tracking Bar should display automatically.

8. If the Tracking Bar fails to display, close the NX session.

9. This advanced step should be done by System Administrators or
knowledgeable Windows users.  This Must be done while logged into the users
session, since the registry recognizes each user?s specific login settings.

10. Select Windows "Start -> Run".

11. Type "regedit" and press "OK".

12. "Highlight "My Computer" -> File -> Export" create a name and backup the
    Windows registry.

13. Open and highlight "HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software ->
    Unigraphics Solutions -> NX -> 3.0".
NOTE: Replace 3.0 with the specific version having the problem.
    i.e. NX4.0 would be "4.0", NX5.0 would be "5.0", etc.

14. With the 3.0 highlighted, press mouse button 3 and select Delete.

15. This restores NX to its default install condition.

16.  Start NX and select Basic Curves. The Tracking Bar should now be
available.

RE: No tracking bar for "Basic Curves"

Step 5, renaming the "user.mtx" file and then restarting UG worked.

Thank You,
