Hello, I have a problem with a model in ANSYS Workbench...I want to calculate the circumferential membrane stress of a structure. For me, circumferential membrane stress = normal stress in the radial direction in cylindrical system...as you can see on the picture, but it's does not give the same results as analytics...
Maybe I have a wrong definition of this stress...but I'm 90% sure :s

That's generally called the hoop stress. Radial stress is the normal stress in the radial direction. Hoop stress is the normal stress in the circumferential direction. I'd stick with that terminology to communicate what you're trying to do as it's the common language for the situation.

There's a closed form solution for your problem; why are you doing FEA? Is this a test case?

To report hoop stress, you'll want to set up a cylindrical coordinate system in the center of your ring. You can scope your results to that coordinate system.
