Piston cup retainer which doesn't involve the use of thread

(OP)
Hi.

I am designing a Manual Deep lift pump for  irrigation purpose in Africa. The pump is to comprise of two main parts, the power input, which is simply a two cylinder treadle pump , but without any valves and a bottom of the well unit which comprises a valve box and two cylinder facing each other.

The problem is how to retain the cups at the end of the center rod without using screws, and still maintain the seal at the center of the rod.
