Grit quantity

Grit quantity

(OP)
Are there any equations that I can use to estimate the grit quantity flowing into a Municipal wastewater treatment plant. Metcalf and Eddy fourth edition gives a range that varies between 0.004-0.037 m3/1000 m3 (For a separate system). Can this be for the wet or dry grit? This is to size the grit pumps.

Thanks

RE: Grit quantity

I don't know how there could be specific equations because the amount of grit will depend so much on the collection system breaches.  Having gotten in trouble before using M&E typical parameters, it would be worth doing some sampling if at all possible during some rain events or when the worst case amounts of grit are coming in.
