Post Tensioned Elevated Slab to Shear Wall connection
Post Tensioned Elevated Slab to Shear Wall connection
(OP)
I am looking for insight into the best way to connect multi-level PT concrete floors to concrete shear walls. I'm told that using standard hooks from the wall into the slab is not desirable as it may cause cracking during slab post-tensioning.
One engineer suggested using oversized sleeves, passing the vertical wall reinforcing through it, and grouting after post-tensioning. I'm concerned adequate shear transfer capacity would not exist since the bars are not developed in the slabs.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
