Mesh densities 3D in Abaqus

Hello all, I am trying to find the techniques to finely mesh a part i.e. with e.g. 10 elements connected to 1 element. Please see the attached image to hopefully explain further what I am trying to achieve in 3D. As I can't see to achieve this with partitioning the 3D model. Will I need to create different parts, tie them and mesh them seperately?

It's better to have a smooth transition between highly refined areas and coarser meshes. You could use separate parts and then tie them together at the interfaces, but you'll find that the interpolation of displacements etc. at the interface will give some discontinuity to the results.

If it's just one part you can tell Abaqus to bias the seeds. So you can have the coarser mesh have smaller elements near your finer mesh.

A partition creates a common face, CAE can not handle two meshes on the surface simoultaneousy
