Motor cooling Methods

guys , whats are some of typical motor cooling metheods ???

RE: Motor cooling Methods

There are two basic designs:
Open Design  – motor fan draws external air through the motor.  This includes ODP, WP1, WP2, depending on degree of enclosure.

TEFC – external fan cools motor exterior with assistance of fins. Internal fan circulates air in closed loop.

Also there are TEAO which are somewhat similar to TEFC, but rely on the driven equipment being a fan and providing external cooling air to the motor.
and some water cooled versions.

There are also some designs that involve water cooling...I'm not familiar with those.

RE: Motor cooling Methods

Have a look at IEC 60034. Most of the common types are defined there, along with many of the unusual ones.
