UG_CONVERT_PART Syntax
UG_CONVERT_PART Syntax
(OP)
Hello,
Trying to convert a file from in to mm. Don't have any experience working in command prompt so the syntax is causing me some trouble. I can get the conversion to work if I place my part file in the UGII folder (so that it is in the same directory as UG_CONVERT_PART), open command prompt, and input >ug_convert_part -mm test_part.prt
if I have "Test_part.prt" in a folder on the C: drive that is different than the folder housing UG_convert_part I can't get program to find it. I keep getting the message "Too many files specified". I am trying a syntax like this:
>ug_convert_part -mm -s -d /New Folder/test_part.prt
Anyone see what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

For regular DOS commands you can get help by entering command name followed by /? or Help followed by the command name. For example :
Help DIR
or
DIR /?
RE: UG_CONVERT_PART Syntax
One small issue that is puzzling me: files that are located on the desktop do not work.
When I right-click on a file on the desktop and choose the convert command that I have added to that menu the Command Prompt opens and after a decent amount of time I get an error message saying that it could not find the directory (can't remember exact wording of the error and am at home now so can't check). If I take this same file and place it in any other directory, either on my local drive or on a network drive, it works just fine: I right-click on the file, choose the convert command, and it executes within a few seconds.
What makes the Desktop different?
Also, we are currently using 4 different versions of NX ranging from NX2-NX7.5. I assume that if I run a part from an earlier version through the converter utility in the NX7.5 UGII folder it will also update that part and prevent it from being opened in earlier versions of NX. Is this correct?
Thanks again for the help getting this working.

Attached is a neat utility someone else created for converting part units. It uses the ug_convert_part.exe but in a windows interface.
