Culvert Extensions

Culvert Extensions

(OP)
Hi

I was wondering if there is a typical length that needs to be removed or cut off from an exisitng culvert before joining it with a new extension? If so, is it the same for CMP and CBC?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

RE: Culvert Extensions

The only time we have the contractor remove or trim portions of an existing pipe culvert (CMP or RCP) is if the end is damaged.  After a field inspection, we determine the length of removal.  For concrete box culverts we typically do not need to remove any length unless there is damage.  If there is significant damage, then the entire structure needs to be evaluated for structural integrity.
