I am trying to build an electro chemical machining device.
Could you recommend me some good tutorials on how to build electro chemical machining device?
Please help~!

Thanks a lot. I will also study EDM.
But now, I need to build ECM machine.
Could you recommend me a tutorial site for DIY EDM machine?
Also, My workpieces are made of SUS316L, monel, Inconel.
In this case, I wonder whether the electrochemical machining could work...

This is an extremely broad subject to be addressed in an internet forum.  It might be helpful if you could provide a bit more about what type of electrochemical machining you are wanting to do and why.

Hi, I hope I could build ECM machine to process(cutting, grooving, milling) stainless steel, inconel, monel material without affecting their mechanical characteristics and chemical properties. But, I just realised that ECM doesn't work for non conductive materials just like my above mentioned workpieces. In this case, EDM could work? I think EDM method generates heat to he material, then the mechanical and chemical characteristics of the workpieces will be changed, right?
I think I am lost here..

Does ECM work for steel alloy like inconel, monel, hastelloy?
how does it work with Stainless steel?

RE: Electrochemical machining

Those are all metals, they are conductive.  We EDM 304 stainless steel all the time, I think those other metals would not be a problem.  It is usually done on a bath so the work piece sees only very localized heating.

ECM on those exotic alloys will require quite a specialized knowledge of chemistry.  We have a part photo etched from Nitronic 60 and only a couple of suppliers have done it successfully.  The ones that can do it have made millions of parts for us, the others swore it could not be done.
