Gear profile for 64 and 48 pitch. Please help me.....

Gear profile for 64 and 48 pitch. Please help me.....

(OP)
I need to create CADe drawing for Diametral Pitch 48 pitch and 64 pitch spur gear on soldiworks. So I'm searching the web for the teeth profile. The most I can find is something like this web:

http://www.engineersedge.com/gear_pitch_chart.htm

48     0.0654     0.0327     0.478     0.0208
64     0.0491     0.0245     0.0364     0.0156

OK. I know i need to draw those tooth but what exactly are the tooth dimension.......

I think I need something like this:
http://www.gearsandstuff.com/spur_gear_full_depth_tooth_calculations.htm

But this is not showing all the dimension of the tooth profile of 64 and 48 pitch.

I have been searching for this information for 2 days and really can't figure this myself so I am asking here for help.

All I need is the full dimension of the tooth profile of 48 and 64 pitch.

Also I see there are some software that can automatically draw gear but they are not free. Is there any freeware for this. thanks a lot

RE: Gear profile for 64 and 48 pitch. Please help me.....

You need to know the number of teeth for each gear. I mean that if the number of teeth is greater than let's say 120, you might as well draw a straight line rack.

RE: Gear profile for 64 and 48 pitch. Please help me.....

Why are you concerned with exact involute shape of the gears. Normally, gears are machined by special gear machines using hobs, shapers, fellow, racks, etc. Gears are not machined by CAM machines using the model (especially small gears with 48 and 64 diametral pitch gears). Designers waste too much time for exact modeling of fastener threads and gear teeth instead of investing the time in thinking and calculating through the design. It will worth spending the time to study and learn the theory of gears and gearing including manufacturing processes, correct dimensioning and checking of gears.

Your illustrations are for basic hobs or rack teeth.
You need to know how to draw an involute curve.
You have to learn all of the gear terminology and what
they mean.  Machinery's Handbook and most Machinist
Texts or Books cover gears.  Your local library must have
machinist text books.  There is a program on this site that
lets you draw the basic involute profiles but you have to know
how to change the default input values.  It was created as
a lisp file and can be run on acad.  Even then you have to know
the mean tooth thickness to allow for backlash thinning of the
gear teeth to draw the mean tooth profile.
