What relay would you put on a transrupter and why? We are pretty blue so I've got a few things in mind. SCADA capabilities are a must for time-stamping and analogs - since you can't do much control with a transrupterbut... it's better than fuses ;)

you can't fix stupid

RE: what relay would you put on a transrupter and why?

Last installation I saw had the Transrupters tripping off of Schweitzer differential relays.

The installation was a pair of 115-13.8 transformers owned by the utility company, feeding our new compressor station.

We found that they worked quite well, especially when the whole substation came off line the first time we loaded it, due to a CT configuration problem.

After corrections were made, they seem to do quite well.

I like the new 700 series of the blue boxes.  These would easily fit your communication requirements.  Another plus is the programmable push buttons / LED's.  787 or 751A come to mind, depending on what the protection requirements are.

No lowside CTs on the transformer so a 787 would be a bit more than we need.  751A was what I had in mind.

I was going to offer condolences regarding your depression, until I figured out what you meant by "pretty blue." We have a few installations with the 587 on Transrupters. CTs can usually be   added easily to low side bus-work or slipped over the bushings.
