Dual voltage rating

Dual voltage rating

Dual voltage rating

(OP)
We need to use power connector for 750VDC circuit. The connector that fits our application is built in Europe, and has a voltage rating 1000V (IEC)/600V (UL). Evidently, its insulation designed to withstand 1000V. Why this insulation is derated in US and can we still use it in US? Can we state in our equipment documentation that connectors have only IEC rating 1000V and let the end user to accept this rating? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Dual voltage rating

If you are trying to sell this in the US without a UL label on the product - good luck to you.

As painful as it may be, I think you need to have a little chat with UL or some other testing outfit in the US.

I see similar voltage difference between IEC and UL for terminal blocks and other similar products.  I don't know if the difference is based on the testing differences, or due to pre-existing UL categories and voltage levels.
