Parapet wall reinforcement

Parapet wall reinforcement

Parapet wall reinforcement

(OP)
Hello all
I have designed a simple antenna mount, mounted to an existing parapet wall. Unfortunately, tensile force in the parapet is 58psi due to the proposed antenna mount.
Can you please guide me as to what are the ways to reinforce the parapet. Parapet height is 24in., width:8in, brick masonry.
Please help!!
Thank in advance..

RE: Parapet wall reinforcement

What is this parapet made out of?  Marshmallows?  You need to be more specific in your situation for others to give you ideas.

Sketches are helpful too.

JAE : I have mentioned that it is a brick masonry in my question.

RE: Parapet wall reinforcement

I doubt it is practical to reinforce the brick parapet without substantial demolition and reconstruction.  A lot would depend on the rest of the structure, including the wall below, the construction of the roof, connections of the wall and roof, etc.

RE: Parapet wall reinforcement

I wouls seriously consider mounting the antenna to the roof structure rather than the parapet, with guy wires as needed.

RE: Parapet wall reinforcement

How tall and how much does the antenna weight; and how is the antenna built?

RE: Parapet wall reinforcement

Sorry vingear - I stopped reading after 24 inches.

Exterior strapping of some kind would be a possibility - an ugly one perhaps.

Removing the wall and then rebuilding the masonry around an embedded structural element is another but there's worries about water infiltration, etc.

Parapets, especially brick ones, are usually hard to maintain and have questionable strength when older due to lots of freeze-thaw damage, thermal cracking, etc.

I'd double what msquared48 suggests and mount to the roof somewhere.
