Parapet wall reinforcement
Parapet wall reinforcement
(OP)
Hello all
I have designed a simple antenna mount, mounted to an existing parapet wall. Unfortunately, tensile force in the parapet is 58psi due to the proposed antenna mount.
Can you please guide me as to what are the ways to reinforce the parapet. Parapet height is 24in., width:8in, brick masonry.
Please help!!
Thank in advance..

Exterior strapping of some kind would be a possibility - an ugly one perhaps.
Removing the wall and then rebuilding the masonry around an embedded structural element is another but there's worries about water infiltration, etc.
Parapets, especially brick ones, are usually hard to maintain and have questionable strength when older due to lots of freeze-thaw damage, thermal cracking, etc.
I'd double what msquared48 suggests and mount to the roof somewhere.
