Resetting lifecycle and rev when copying parts
Resetting lifecycle and rev when copying parts
(OP)
Has anyone found a quick and easy way to reset the lifecycle and rev when copying an existing part to make a new part?
Example:
I have a sensor mount that has a lifecycle status of released and is rev 3. I want to rename this part with a new part number and modify it slightly. But this new part needs to have its lifecycle set to engineering and the rev will be A.
I know I can go into the file properties and do this manually but is there a more elegant way to do this?

I was really looking for a more behind the scenes method.I can also edit the props direct from the file/properties menu. But when dealing with alot of parts and multiple users the more automated the process the more likely people are to follow it.
I think we will just write an API routine that replaces the saveas function. Click an icon, enter the new file name and have it reset the props to the default status in the background.
Thanks for the other ideas. And if anyone has an API macro that already does this let me know please.
