NX 8.0

NX 8.0

(OP)
I've seen mention a few times lately the next version of NX, I'm assuming it will be NX 8.0. Is there a time frame as to when NX 8.0 will be available?

Also, last year it was mentioned in a few threads that the next version of NX (NX 8.0?)will have greatly upgraded/improved capabilities for shipbuilding/naval architecture/marine engineering. Can someone comment on what those upgrades and new capabilities are?

Thanks,
Mike

RE: NX 8.0

As I told someone else, either here or on another forum, depending on how your part of the world defines the beginning of Fall, the "NEXT vresion of NX" will be available either late Summer or early Fall.

As for the shipbuilding project and what we're focusing on, since that is WAY out of my area of expertise and experience I've haven't spent hardly any time looking at it.  However, when we get closer to the release there will be marketing information being made available for the launch which will cover the basic trust of this effort.  Now it is possible that there may be some sessions covering this in more detail at the upcoming PLM Connection in May in Las Vegas.  Note that the conference is actually going to happen before the official launch of the "NEXT version of NX" so I don't know how much information about some of the new areas will be presented or not, however let me ask and if it turns out that there will be some worthwhile sessions for this area, perhaps it might pay to consider attending the meeting.  If I learn fo any specific shipbuilding presentations planned for the conference I'll post that information here.

Thank you very much!!

RE: NX 8.0

Hi John,

I don't mean to be a pain in asking this early.  But a while ago you mentioned that they were looking at adding Frame Generator/Weldment style features to NX (ala IV/SW).  Is there any info on this at all?  I would really LOVE for it to be in NX8 as its one feature that really helps us out a lot.

RE: NX 8.0

I really can't recall that exchange.  Could you provide a link to the original post and my reply?

RE: NX 8.0

While it is true that there will be some additional support for the design of structures as part of our enhanced effort for adding shipbuilding design and manufacturing functionality in the next few versions of NX, I would not expect that they will very general in nature as the focus is clearly going to be on naval/marine structural type requirements.
