Converting DGN file to Autocad loses raster image

Converting DGN file to Autocad loses raster image

Converting DGN file to Autocad loses raster image

(OP)
We have a client that has sent us some microstation drawings that they need converted to Autocad.
The files all have raster attachments. I can't tell what type however because the extensions are not standard. For example I have a DGN file named 123456.001, there is a corresponding raster file named 123456.C01. We have Microstation V8 but none of us are power users. When we use Microstation and perform a saveas we lose the raster image. So, instead I tried simply importing directly into Autocad2011 and again all I get are the vector graphics.

Any suggestions?

RE: Converting DGN file to Autocad loses raster image

Hi mikehaff,
As far as the MicroStation file you can rename a DGN file extension to whatever you want.  Some people will name the plotting file PLT. I am guessing the 001 is just a plot sheet number for them.

For the raster file I have never heard of a C01 file before.  I have seen COT, CIT, C29, C30, and C31 which I believe all are Intergraph raster files.  Some of them are geocoordinate files as well.

My guess is that AutoCAD is not supporting Intergraph raster files.
The company you received the files from should be able to convert the Intergraph raster to common file types for you.

Bob Mecham
