LITHIUM HYDRIDE METAL COMPATIBILITY

LITHIUM HYDRIDE METAL COMPATIBILITY

LITHIUM HYDRIDE METAL COMPATIBILITY

(OP)
WOULD ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA ABOUT WHAT METALS OR COATINGS THAT CAN BE USED WITH LiH WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT REACTION, ESPECIALLY AT TEMPERATURE. OR IF THERE IS A LiH COMPATIBILITY CHART AVAILABLE SOMEWHERE.
I'LL ALSO TRY CHEM ENG FORUM.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.

RE: LITHIUM HYDRIDE METAL COMPATIBILITY

Don't use capitals for your post and don't double post- I suggest Materials Engineering Forum - Is this Lithium Hyrdride and for a nuclear application then nuclear engineering forum is appropriate?

RE: LITHIUM HYDRIDE METAL COMPATIBILITY

(OP)
Yes, material is Lithium Hydride. The application involves hot die pressing powder in a contained and controlled environment. Some literature suggests pure iron due to its affinity to stainless steel and other metals, ie nickel or chrome. But that is when the material is being manufactured & solidified from a molten state.
For practical purposes then, what metal constitutes as or would substitute for pure iron when machining components used for dies in a press?

Also I would like to know if there are more suitable metals than others for parts that may happen to come into contact with the material. Perhaps a coating would be better choice for parts with limited exposure to the powder?
