How do I calculate the force a Metric thread can withstand
How do I calculate the force a Metric thread can withstand
(OP)
Hi
I am building a hydraulic press and I'm using a RAM from an old excavator. It has a diameter of 177mm which I have formed a 1mm pitch thread at the end for 50mm of thread. I intend to thread this into a large collar at the top of the press. can anyone tell me how many metric tones of force this thread can withstand or can anyone advise me on a more suitable thread pitch for maximum strength .
