Why is there excessive displacement?
Why is there excessive displacement?
(OP)
Hi everyone!
I'm currently modelling a spot welded specimen using shell and beam elements, but ANSYS is giving me an error regarding a small equation solver pivot term. I tried using the nropt, full command. The error message produced when using this said that I have excessive displacement and that the model may not be sufficiently constrained.
However my model is constrained in all degrees of freedom on one side and in 5 degrees of freedom on the other. Basically there can only be displacement in the x-direction.
Any ideas of what is happening please?
Thanks and regards

RE: Why is there excessive displacement?
If you're sure that the model is constrained, look at your material properties. If you slip a decimal or three on your stiffness, ANSYS will have a fit.
