Application Block - Mandatory or Optional

Application Block - Mandatory or Optional

Application Block - Mandatory or Optional

(OP)
Is the Application Block, whether integral to the drawing or integral to a separate Parts List, mandatory or optional? Currently, we show the Application Block along with our Parts List on the face of our drawings (we do not do a separate Parts List).

Our drawings are CAD based and maintained within a PLM system. We can obtain the Application info with 'Where-Used' tools within our PLM system. We'd like to eliminate the Application Block from our drawings all together and remove the need to do non-value added revisions to standard part drawings just to update the Application Block.

Can anyone point me to source with a definitive answer to this question?

Thanks!

Chris

RE: Application Block - Mandatory or Optional

I'd look at ASME Y14.1.

I'm pretty sure it's optional.

Although incredibly useful information, trying to keep it up to date on the drawing is, to say the least, a pain - so, you can't trust it, so what's the point.
