Calculation of numbers of consecutive starts

Calculation of numbers of consecutive starts

(OP)
Hi,

I would like to know how to calculate the numbers of consecutive starts of motor. Is there any publication telling about this ?

As I know, numbers of consecutive starts depends on mechanical drive moment of inertia. The more mechanical drive moment of inertia, the less numbers of consecutive starts of the motor.

Thank your,

RE: Calculation of numbers of consecutive starts

The most reliable source for this information is the motor manufacturer or the manufacturer of the equipment that the motor is connected to.

There is some info here:
FAQ237-1285: Limits for repetitive induction motor DOL starting
For NEMA frame (small / medium) motors, the 1st linke provides a useful table.

For large motors, OEM info is essential as Ray said. The 2nd link provides only general discussion.

That may be a factor, but the limiting factor is the temperature inside the motor.  Even with nothing connected to the motor, the number of starts is still limited.
