Question on convergence study

Question on convergence study

Question on convergence study

(OP)
Hello all,

I am doing a convergence study on a two body contact problem. I have been using global seeds to increase the number of elements for each run. However when the run times were getting too long I switch to edge seeds and really refined the mesh in the contact area and more coarse mesh everywhere else. However the the results seemed to go strange at this point (contact pressure doubled and Von Mises Stress halved).

Could any of these be the cause of this:
1) I am using displacement control rather than a load.
2) There are too many elements in the contact zone?
3) I am using automatic smoothing and selected the option to remove overclosure?

Anything else that could be causing the problem?

Thank-you in advance
