layers setings dialog in nx7
(OP)
Hello,
Cant understand how layer settings dialog work. If I select layer, and I want to make it invisible, I'm pressing button "make invisible". tick mark goes off, but objects are still visible in model view, they only became unselectable. So whats the purpose of this button? So the only way to make objects invisible (using layers) is "format->visible in view" dialog?
Thanks.

RE: layers setings dialog in nx7
perhaps visible in view has been set (accidentally?). Go to format > visible in view > reset to global. Now try turning layers on or off. Does it respond? Another test would be if you changed the view (eg replace view) and see if the layers behave correctly.

I think on this model view the layer setting „view specific" is used.
To switch back to "global layer" open "Format --> Visible in View", then click
"Reset to Global" press "Cancel".
Now you should see what you have set with "Format --> Layer Settings".
Maybe it's also necessary to save the view now with "View --> Operation --> Save"
The reason is: in drafting each view is automatically saved using "Visible in View ", in modeling you have to do it manually.
To check what layer mask you have active in a view you, can use
"Information --> Other --> View"
Look for --> Visible Layers --> Global or View specific
best regards

In the layer settings dialog there is a column labeled 'visible only'. If you check this, the object stay visible but will not be selectable.

If you have the layer visibility set to Invisible and the object is still visible, then check the VIV setting. This has biten me many times when dealing with models from other companies and not knowing there modeling practices.
