Creating Shell and Solid Elements in SAP2000

Creating Shell and Solid Elements in SAP2000

(OP)
Hi,

How would I be able to create shell and solid elements in sap? for example, if I were to make a 1' x 1' steel plate, how can I mesh that plate with shell or solid elements?

I know that SAP does some internal meshing and that it has a auto area mesh command, but am not sure if that is the right command to use.

Thanks

Why do you have to do that?. You have a shell and a solid and a common boundary?

Be careful then, the sharp change in stiffness will need your attention.

I dont have much use of solids but I think if you have nodes then you should be able to model the boundary properly.

Get more nodes from the solid and from the shell at the boundary. And avoid use of internal meshing until you are so sure of what it does.
