Hmm, almost a play book of how my SO got rid of her old boss, plus at different times a couple of colleagues that had serious issues.

They missed the part about half the department standing up and starting to walk out when the VP told them they were just going to give the manager a slap on the wrist.

Of course, getting a manager or even colleague fired really doesn't make you popular with management.  

Even if they want the person gone, the fact you did it when they didn't/couldn't may upset them, not sure if it makes them feel less powerful than they think they deserve or something or what.
