Create Broken View

Create Broken View

(OP)
Hi Everyone,

I have a ortho or right side view & I would like to create a broken view to show the Engine Center Axis.

How can I do this to & have an 'S' style broken view?  Currently, my engine center axis is horizontal datum. What do I need to do make it appear as a center line in the drafting side?

Using ProE 4.0

Thanks

RE: Create Broken View

Hi Users,

Does the lack of replies mean that users out here don't like using or creating Broken Views in ProE drafting?

I get part of the work instructions, but what I don't see is where to create the 'S' style breaks.  When attempting, it seemed like the only options I had were to create a vertical or horizontal break view, which I had to pick part entities.

In this instance, I'm trying to show or demonstrate the origin or horizontal engine center line.

  Who can answer?

Thanks for the assistance.

RE: Create Broken View

To get your axis to show as centerline display it as a datum axis.

Where to find S-curve setting?

It's the column all the way at the right hand side of the Visible Area category in view properties.
Direction|1st Break|2nd Break|Break Line Style
                 |                |                   |

The available options on list are
Straight
Sketch
S-curve on view outline
S-curve on geometry
Heatbeat on view outline
Heatbeat on geometry

4.0 is the 4th version of ProE with the new "Wildfire" UI. There were 23 versions of Pro/E before that.

Hi Michael & Others,

I managed to make an S shape breakview, but it's not quite what I wanted.

Seems like the only way to create a breakview is to select two horizontal or vertical lines/edges from the part.  This appears to be the approximate gap difference.

In this instance, I have an engine center line or axis that I'm trying to present.  The only areas & I need to gap is the empty radial distance between the engine axis & bottom of part.

How can I get this area?

Do I need to fudge in some lines in this area or do I need to have 2 separate views, then break one of those views?

 What are your suggestions?

RE: Create Broken View

Sometimes on complicated/tricky break away views, I have created and exploded view.....move the parts/sub-assemblies for the best possible viewing....or....you can remove (hide Parts/sub-assemblies) from the view that are not needed, and create a note that reflects the hidden items. Sometimes you have to get creative within the Pro/E boundaries....to eliminate failures/erros.
