Theoretical Routing - Drawing

(OP)
Does anyone know how to show the theoretical routing of a tube in a drawing. I also want to show the theoretical points. I'm using NX5,

Thanks!

Sorry to ask again guys, but I urgently need to show the reference geometry for a tubing in a drawing, I'm new in this software NX5! Does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks!

RE: Theoretical Routing - Drawing

What type of reference geometry do you wish to show?

Are you working with the routing application or do you only have access to the core modeling tools?

I'm working with the routing application. The problem is that our customer wants two separete files, 3D model and drawing. When I change to drafting from the 3D model it shows the routing and the theoretical point. But when I use the customers template and I insert the 3D views it doesn't show the routing or the points...thanks for your attention

RE: Theoretical Routing - Drawing

So you know how to get what you want, just not in the customer's template? If so, I'd start looking for differences between their template and yours. Reference sets and layer masking (visible in view) would be a good starting point.

RE: Theoretical Routing - Drawing

Laura,

The 2 seperate files is what we call master model approach, the drawing is really an assembly that contains your model file as a component. The reason your not seeing the curves is that they are probably not in the reference set being used by the drawing. I assume  when you said that it worked when you switched to drafting that you were still in the same displayed part (ie the model file). When you use your customer's template it is probably creating a new drawing file.

Do you have stock (wire) applied to your route path, and if so, is it on a seperate layer to the routing path? The swept solid of the stock may be hiding your routing path. We generally show only the stock on our electrical routing drawings. Perhaps create a seperate ref set for the route path and use that in you drawing or if the objects are on different layers use layer masking.
