I am trying to show that a back panel of a box will keep the box from collapsing. How do I obtain the shear loads on the fasteners of the back panel? The box is fixed at the corners of the bottom panel. Also, just to keep it simple, there is just a single external load applied to one of the side panels. I attached a picture.

The thing that immediately comes to mind is a Timoshenko beam. Since your box is short and stubby compared to what you traditionally think of as a beam, shear deformation is likely important.

If it were me, I'd build a FEA model of it. Shell elements would be sufficient for figuring out the shear distribution at the flange. Also, you could include bolt pretensions & friction and determine whether any individual bolt will begin to slip under your design load.
