I am installing a new boiler. 35,000 pph x 150 psig saturated steam d-type. The boiler has an economizer that is isolable ie we can bypass it with 3 valves and it has its own safety valve.

I usually see feedwater stop and check valves upstream of economizer. However when I got the P&ID in from boiler supplier they show the feedwater stop and check valves downstream of economizer. Where is the correct location, or does it make any difference. ASME Sec 1 is not very clear.
