Jointing concrete pipe and removing rocker

Jointing concrete pipe and removing rocker

Jointing concrete pipe and removing rocker

(OP)
H ihad a proposal to introduce a flexible joint mid point on a 6m long pipe of concrete. The contractor suggests them they won't need a rocker. Tome that makes the pipe weaker and is to long to remove the rocker. Any thoughts?

RE: Jointing concrete pipe and removing rocker

Depends on the bedding conditions, soil support conditions and how well the contractor can align the pipe. If any of those conditions are compromised, the joints will open without other flexibility.

Well i imagine it would be bedded etc. pretty well. They are .competent bunch. But long term used where my doubts lie

RE: Jointing concrete pipe and removing rocker

Agree that the joint should have some flexibility.

RE: Jointing concrete pipe and removing rocker

Is this pipe under pressure? There ae some jopints available that have some flexibility. Why not lay an 's' curve in the pipe?
