Does anyone know how I can calulate the shear srength of a material from the standard mechanical properties of materials, such as Tensile strength, youngs modulus, bulk modulus, elongation, rockwell hardness, and yeild strength?

Typically, for metals the shear yield strength is 0.57 X tensile yield strength. You would want to know when yielding occurs before final fracture.

Shear can vary significantly depending on the material.  For example, concrete is stronger in shear then tension.  There is no universal formula that I'm aware of.  Any specific material that you are looking for?
