Routing Assemblies - Fasteners

Routing Assemblies - Fasteners

Routing Assemblies - Fasteners

(OP)
Hi, guys. I'm a new poster her, although i have been an active reader in the forums for a while.

I'm having an issue which is frustrating me quite a bit.

I'm trying to insert some fasteners in to pipe route assemblies between flanges, valves etc. However, when dragging them in, they do not auto snap into place. And when trying to mate them, although the route sketch is fully defined, it will cause components to move?

Currently running Office Premium 2010 x64 edition, SP4.0.

RE: Routing Assemblies - Fasteners

I use smart components for my flanges.  Whenever I drop a flange in SW asks if I want the fasteners automatically installed.  Take a look in the help under smart components.

Thanks for your reply.

I've just looked this up on the help, and on youtube. Looks like a very handy feature. Unfortunately, our library isn't set up this way - although it may be worthwhile going down this route for the future.

Does anyone know how to get around this with mated components?

RE: Routing Assemblies - Fasteners

You can temporarily fix your components while you are mating the fasteners to them.  Then you can float them after if necessary.

RE: Routing Assemblies - Fasteners

If the route is truly fully defined then this message doesn't mean anything. I've successfully mated ahrdware to flanges in routed assemblies pretty much ignoring the "part may move" message without having a problem. Provided the route was fully defined.

I sometimes will parallel mate the planes of the flange with the planes of the assembly to lock them in, keeps them from rotating.
